I'm Pam Scheer, founder and sole
proprietor of SHOWbits Theatre Gifts.
SHOWbits began
in the Spring of 1997. I was producing a play at my
local community theatre and trying to find a nice
little gift for the cast members as well as
something special for the director and stage
manager; at the same time, I had my eye out for a
gift for my daughters' dance teacher; plus the
upcoming piano recital deserved a little memento.
Surely I could find something fitting for all of the
special people involved. Know what I found? -
NOTHING! That's right - nada, bupkis, zilch.
Oh sure, I got some gifts - candy, flowers, that
sort of thing - but nothing to serve as a lasting
little reminder of the special events involved.
Then, an idea started developing . . theatre people
are everywhere, the performing arts are vital to the
entire country, not just the east and west coasts.
So, if the people in the arts are everywhere,
shouldn't the symbols they love be available
everywhere? Think about it - you can always find a
gift for a golfer or a bowler - why not an actor or
a dancer? The best way I could think of to reach all
of these folks was via the internet and thus,
SHOWbits was born.
SHOWbits is definitely a work in progress. I have
some retail background and some marketing
background. I am amazed by the computer skills I
have developed over the past year but I know that I
am still a novice. For as far as I have come, I
still see vast room for growth. Right now I want you
to think of SHOWbits first when you are looking for
a theatre, music or dance gift. Someday, you'll stop
by to order stage make-up and rehearsal wear. And
always, always, always, I want you to look to
SHOWbits for interesting links and show schedules.
